How the use of Collaborative Law lead to an amicable divorce
04 March 2011
We acted for a wife who after a 30 year marriage sought a divorce. It was important to her that the divorce proceeded amicably and she chose to deal with the separation of the assets by using Collaborative Law. As collaboratively trained lawyers, we were able to accommodate this and the whole process was concluded after 3 round table meetings where the only ones present were the parties and their respective solicitors. The parties were able to speak directly to each other, the meetings were client led and with the advice and assistance of solicitors, they were able to agree a division of the assets without needing to set foot in a court room.
