Compensation Awarded for Police Federation Member who was Involved in a Road Traffic Accident

19 August 2010

Our client was driving a marked police vehicle and closed his distance to check the number plate of a vehicle whose driver was driving erratically. When the driver saw the police vehicle he began driving in an acceptable manner. Our client therefore correctly moved out to overtake the driver and the learner driver which was driving in front of him. The driver of the second vehicle then pulled out and hit the police vehicle as our client was passing him. Our client sustained personal injuries to the right shoulder, lower back and bruising to the ribs. He undertook a course of physiotherapy and symptoms resolved within one year. To compensate for the damages cause through this Road Traffic Accident, The defendants initially offered £1,750.00 which was rejected. Through negotiation between the defendant's and our expert RTA solicitors, an offer of £2,280.00 was accepted. The Defendants also reimbursed the Police Convalescent Home the sum of £220.00.
