Involvement in coroner’s inquest after police fatality

14 April 2010

Our team acted for a police officer who fatally wounded a fellow officer with a shotgun during a training exercise.

The police officer maintained that the fatal shot was an involuntary act after responding to a threatening incident in accordance with his training. He was attempting to cover a vehicle with the shotgun armed with a training round used for deflating car tyres. The police officer was investigated for manslaughter.

Our legal experts were involved with the subsequent coroner’s inquest.
