Successful representation for a three-partner firm under SRA investigation

31 March 2010

Our experienced professional discipline and regulation team represented a three-partner firm based in the North of England subject to an SRA investigation. The regulatory investigation concerned personal injury claims at the firm and the contribution towards shortfalls in costs recovered made by successful claimants. There were also allegations of misleading publicity from a separate business that referred the PI matters to the firm. As a result of early instruction the team was able to make a series of robust submissions on behalf of the firm. These representations meant that no regulatory sanction was imposed on any of the partners. Successful representations were also made by the professional discipline team in relation to the SRA’s costs of the investigation. The result was a significant reduction being made at Adjudication.
