Wheelchair user unable to access medical centre

04 February 2010

We are currently acting for a client, a wheelchair user who had been injured in an accident. When attending a medical centre to obtain a medical report for his legal claim, he faced serious access problems at the centre, related to his disability.

His insurer’s medical centre had a lack of suitable access ramps and inadequate beds/equipment to allow a comfortable examination of our client. A claim for disability discrimination and a failure to make reasonable adjustments has been issued in the Courts. The case is ongoing.
