Julie Morris settles equal pay and sex discrimination claim

Russell Jones & Walker's Julie Morris acted for an accountant who brought a claim for equal pay and sex discrimination. She claimed that she should have been paid the same or equal salary to that of others in the company, as she was doing work of equal value to them. The equal value expert concluded that she was dong work of equal value to one of her comparators, but the employer argued that that individual’s salary was higher because of his previous service and loyalty to the company and that it wouldn’t have been fair to reduce it. This matter was eventually settled on a confidential basis.
