Misuse of officer’s private information

01 October 2009

This female police officer had undergone cosmetic surgery, a fact which she had confidentially informed to the occupation health department. This was disclosed without her knowledge or consent to HR and then to fellow officers in her unit. This understandably caused her a great deal of distress and embarrassment. A complaint was made on her behalf to her force, and a settlement was negotiated, including a payment of damages plus her legal costs.
