Ken’s 21-year career at Slater and Gordon began in Footscray, Australia. He has extensive litigation experience particularly in claims for sufferers of asbestos-related illness (including acting for the Australian Council of Trade Unions and asbestos support groups in negotiations with James Hardie) and large, multi-party group and representative actions.
Ken took a lead role in establishing Slater and Gordon’s presence in New South Wales. Until December 2009, Ken managed the significant growth of Slater and Gordon’s NSW team, the majority of whom joined the Group through the acquisition of smaller firms.
Until 30 June 2011, as General Manager of the Commercial and Project Litigation practice, Ken had stewardship of the group’s portfolio of high profile project litigation cases. During 2012 Ken was on a leave of absence from his management role to complete further study. He continued to serve on the Board during this time, and attained an MBA in London whilst advising on the integration of UK firm Russell Jones & Walker into the Slater and Gordon group.
Ken returned to a senior management role within the firm in January 2013 assuming responsibility for management services functions and the non-personal injury practices. Ken then became CEO of Slater and Gordon, Australia and held that role until he moved to Slater and Gordon UK in May 2015.
As a legal practitioner with many years' experience and qualifications and a strong interest in economics and business management, Ken contributes skills in legal practice, legal practice management, risk management, financial analysis and financial reporting.
During his time with Slater and Gordon, Ken has maintained many of the progressive values that are prevalent today in the UK as they were in the two-staff serviced Sydney office 21 years ago. It is the original values of brighter outcomes, customer-centric focus and the importance of investing in people that Ken brings as CEO of SGL and SGS in the UK.
