A hospice which delivers vital end-of-life services to families across Glasgow and East Renfrewshire is being supported in delivering palliative care through a new partnership with Slater and Gordon.

The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice offers palliative and end-of-life care to more than 1,200 new patients, families and carers each year. Its services are delivered from the hospice, based in Glasgow, as well as in people’s homes and in the community.

To help deliver its much-needed palliative care, the hospice has partnered with Slater and Gordon, which will support its team of palliative care nurses.

The registered nurses manage a number of invaluable aspects of care, including complex symptom management, support with negotiating family dynamics and issues, and delivering psychological, social, spiritual and emotional care to patients, carers and family members.

To deliver further support to both the team at the Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, as well as patients and others who use the hospice’s services, Slater and Gordon will also hold legal education sessions and legal clinics to help people understand their legal rights.

Rhona Baillie OBE, CEO of The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, says: “We are very grateful to Slater and Gordon for choosing to support Glasgow’s Hospice by partnering with us.

“We provide compassionate care to 1,200 patients and their families every year and it is only with the kind support of our communities and local businesses that we can continue providing this gold standard care. We look forward to working closely with the team from Slater and Gordon as our partnership progresses.”

Derek Couper, head of clinical negligence in Scotland, says: “The work of the Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice in supporting so many families each year is incredible – at the most difficult times imaginable, the amazing team deliver a range of vital services to support the patient and their wider network of loved ones.

“We are very pleased to partner with this hospice, and to give our support to the palliative care nurses, who play an absolutely invaluable role in delivering personal and compassionate care to patients and their families. Together with our education sessions and legal clinics, we hope to be able to support the whole hospice community in every way we can, and look forward to building our relationship further.”
