Slater and Gordon is proud to announce its latest partnership with national disability charity, Contact, launching a new workshop series called, Brighter Futures. This is part of the firm’s continued growth and commitment to supporting families.
For 50 years, the pan disability charity has provided support to families of disabled children with conditions including cerebral palsy, hemiplegia and neurodivergence. Their life-changing services include in-person family events, parent carer workshops as well as online, printed and helpline advice on education, finances, childcare, social care, medical information and more.
The new programme, Brighter Futures, will offer parent carers across East Anglia a series of five free workshops - the first four virtually and the final in person - exploring a range of useful topics aimed at supporting children with disabilities.
From advice and strategies for managing anxiety and behaviour in children with additional needs, to finding out more about Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), the workshops will give parents an opportunity to come together to receive specialist guidance, as well as share their own experiences as a parent carer.
Slater and Gordon is funding the workshops and will be hosting specialist advice sessions for families affected by medical negligence in areas across Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. Slater and Gordon will also provide insights into Education Law.
Last year, Contact provided valuable support to more than 381,000 primary care givers via their programmes, with its helpline supporting more than 16,000 people.
This new collaboration aims to expand access to vital support and guidance to carers of children with disabilities, while further strengthening Contact’s outstanding community impact.
Director of Income Generation at Contact, Mark Davies, looks forward to the new workshop series, adding: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Slater and Gordon to launch the new Brighter Futures workshop series for families across East Anglia. Every day, we hear from parents caring for a child with a disability or additional needs who feel isolated and unsure where to turn for information, advice and support. These workshops will offer a welcoming space for parent carers to access expert guidance, practical strategies and to connect with others who understand their journey.
“Thanks to this partnership, even more families will be empowered to overcome challenges and help their children thrive. We simply couldn’t make the difference we do without the support of companies like Slater and Gordon, who share our commitment to transforming lives.”
Sam Morton, Medical Negligence Solicitor at Slater and Gordon adds "Contact’s story is truly inspiring and we are proud to join forces with them for the Brighter Futures workshop series.
“Through this new workshop series, we aim to make a meaningful difference for families across the East Anglia region seeking specialist advice, find everyday support and a welcoming space to connect with others in the community.
This workshop is a brilliant way for parents and carers to find a place of support, comfort and understanding.”
