Following the launch of its first-of-its-kind initiative last year, Slater and Gordon is proud to announce that the AAUK Improving Outcomes Fund partnership with Air Ambulance UK (AAUK) has been renewed for 2026.

Since last year, the fund has provided £100,000 in grants towards five national charities to support air ambulance patients, their loved ones, and the crews who respond to life-threatening emergencies.

Slater and Gordon’s commitment, alongside HCC Solicitors, to the initiative has helped air ambulance charities provide meaningful follow up support to those affected by serious incidents, including funding spaces of remembrance for deceased loved ones, as well as dedicated facilities for support services.

With both firms forming the AAUK’s dedicated legal panel; patients and their families can access critical legal advice following serious injury, alongside practical guidance and resources to support their recovery.

The AAUK Improving Outcomes Fund also recognises the importance of supporting the wellbeing of emergency service workers, whose vital response also comes with emotional and psychological impact.

Applications are now open to charities for the 2026 AAUK Improving Outcomes Fund, which will support charities with:

Patient aftercare support services

Dedicated crew support services

Dedicated support spaces for patients and/or crews

Outdoor reflection spaces for patients and crews.

Madelene Holdsworth, Managing Director of Specialist Legal Services at Slater and Gordon, said:

“At Slater and Gordon, we understand the profound physical and psychological impact of life-threatening and life-changing injury. We are committed to supporting patients and their families throughout the recovery journey, which is often complex, stressful and emotional. By working together within this partnership, we can ensure those affected have access to specialist support and guidance when they need it most.

"What makes this partnership unique is its focus not only on patients and their families, but also on the emergency service crews who respond to these incidents and may themselves be affected by what they experience.

"After such a successful first year, we are delighted to continue this important partnership with Air Ambulance UK and HCC Solicitors. We aim to help even more people access the support and advice they need to rebuild their lives."

Jamie McDonnell, Strategic Partnership Lead at Slater and Gordon, added:

“It’s clear to see that the AAUK Improving Outcomes Fund has been pivotal in enabling charities to create dedicated spaces and services that provide invaluable support for patients, families and emergency service workers.

"Through our partnership with AAUK and our role on its legal panel, we have built a strong foundation to make an even greater difference over the coming year. Together, we can help ensure that people facing some of the most challenging circumstances of their lives receive the support, confidence and reassurance they need to move forward.

“The work that we are collectively doing is incredibly important, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration.”
