Slater and Gordon clients have today welcomed the Crown Prosecution Service decision to charge ex-Radio 1 DJ and Top of the Pops presenter Dave Lee Travis with 12 sexual offences.
Mr Travis, real name David Patrick Griffin, was first arrested in November 2012 as part of Operation Yewtree. He was later rearrested in March over further claims of sexual offences.
The 68-year-old was today officially charged with 11 counts of indecent assault and one count of sexual assault between 1977 and 2007.
Slater and Gordon Personal Injury Lawyer Jessica Standley who is representing a number of Mr Travis’ alleged victims, said her clients were ‘relieved’ at the decision.
“Our clients are relieved that after this length of time, careful consideration has been given to the evidence and a decision has been made to prosecute in the criminal courts. It takes a great deal of courage for people to come forward with this kind of allegation and our clients look forward to having their voices heard in a court of law.”
Jessica Standley is a Personal Injury Solicitor specialising in child abuse cases, at Slater and Gordon Lawyers in London.
