Top Employment Law Firms Worldwide Join Together for International Employment Law

The Lawyers’ International Network for Executives and Employees (LINEE) is the world’s first employment and labour law network exclusively dedicated to the needs and protection of employees and executives who work in an international environment.

LINEE was launched today by Slater and Gordon and Outten and Golden LLP from the UK and US respectively, with a total of eleven firms from eleven different countries making up the membership. Aside from the UK and US, LINEE has specifically selected firm members in Australia, Ireland, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Brazil, Mexico and Canada.

In an increasingly globalised business world, a growing number of executives need employment lawyers with expertise at the highest level and with a reputation for getting results. LINEE will therefore provide a cross border international offering for such executives in the main financial centres.

In many cases expertise in more than one jurisdiction is needed. By developing strong ties between members to build knowledge and expertise on issues arising in other jurisdictions, clients will benefit from a collaborative approach, which is especially useful when there is uncertainty over the legal jurisdiction in play. LINEE will also share good practice between members, and build relationships with potential partners in other professional services.

Slater and Gordon is a UK leader in Employment Law, with eighteen offices nationwide and over 1,400 employees in the UK. Its senior lawyers have been recognised as leaders in the field by Chambers and Partners and Legal 500. Slater and Gordon has more than 40 lawyers specifically dedicated to advising employees and executives in the UK, including in the financial services industry. Their experts often assist executives on a cross-border or international basis and provide solutions for executives on a range of legal issues such as unfair dismissal, redundancy, employment contract advice and bonus disputes to name a few.

Skater & Gordon Employment Lawyer Paul Daniels said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for some of the world’s top employment law firms to help each other deal with the growing number of employment issues faced by international executives. For the first time, a strong international network will exist to serve the interests of executives and employees, in contrast to the range of networks out there servicing companies.

“Senior executives often face employment issues where the relevant jurisdiction is not immediately clear or involving multi border legal claims. LINEE will provide expertise in establishing which legal system applies, and through collaboration, our members can provide best advice with a true understanding of the international dimension."

Wayne Outten, co-chair of the network, from leading US firm Outten & Golden LLP commented, “We are confident that LINEE will provide a valuable service to international executives and employees and continue to grow, so that we can cover all of the world’s major business centres. In time, we hope to be the first port of call for international executives seeking the highest quality legal and professional advice.”

Paul Daniels is a Senior Employment Law Solicitor at Slater and Gordon Lawyers in London.
