Slater and Gordon Family Lawyer provides expertise on the ‘Stolen Baby’ case
Slater and Gordon Family Lawyer Hannah Cornish was widely quoted in the media on what the Daily Mirror has called the “stolen baby”.
A couple from Guildford in Surrey had their child taken away from them after they awoke to find their six-week-old baby crying. They rushed the child to the hospital when they discovered bruising and bleeding from the mouth. The child was put into social services care when the paediatric radiologist mistakenly took the child’s blood disorder (Von Willebrands II) to be a case of child abuse.
It took three and half years for parents Karrissa Cox and Richard Carter to have their innocence proved. During that time, their child was put into foster care and then put up for adoption.
The Family Lawyer, who specialises in domestic abuse and adoption law, was interviewed by the Daily Mirror and Sky News. Hannah explained how an adoption order cannot be overturned by a court, saying, “It is highly unlikely that Karrissa Cox and Richard Carter will ever get their child back as an adoption order cannot be overturned. This poor family will never recover.”
