Former bus cleaner to receive compensation after work illness
A former bus cleaner from Kent is set to receive a large compensation settlement after contracting a rare flesh eating disease.
Izzy Lloyd worked for Arriva Southern Counties when she developed necrotising fasciitis after piercing her foot on a piece of metal in an engineering bay.
The woman had to undergo emergency surgery to save her life after her condition continued to worsen in the days after the initial accident.
While she survived, her left leg had to be amputated years later and she is now out of work.
Ms Lloyd said: "The compensation I get from this case will help me to move on with my life, but nothing could ever give me back the family time and lifestyle I had before."
While the exact amount the former bus cleaner will receive has not been specified, it is expected to be a significant sum.
