Compensation may be sought by the family of a teenager who passed away due to a fatal accident at work.
Jamie Lee Duddin died in hospital at the age of 18 in August 2010 from injuries he sustained during an incident at premises in Heddon on the Wall, Northumberland, two weeks earlier.
At the time of this accident, Mr Duddin and a Scotts of Whittington Colleague were repairing the roof lights of a barn at Heddon Low Farm when he fell through a fibre cement board panel.
The young man subsequently fell a distance of around six metres to the concrete below and an investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) found Scotts had failed to provide sufficient training and planning prior to this project.
Martin Smith, inspector at the HSE, commented: "This was a tragedy that could and should have been avoided. Instead a young man has lost his life as a result of collective failures."
