Amputation fear after accident at work

Amputation fear after accident at work
There are fears a man may need his leg amputated after he was injured following an accident at work.

The male was airlifted to hospital with a broken leg because a falling piece of metal struck the limb while he worked at a machine shop in Wokingham, Get Reading reports.

Believed to be in his 30s or 40s, the man was taken up by the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance from the location at Brookfield Farm off Wokingham Road.

The seriousness of the injuries sustained suggests he may wish to push forward a high level compensation claim.

He was taken to undergo surgery at Wrexham Park Hospital in Slough - and there were concerns he might lose the injured leg.

Greg Elphick, neighbourhood team inspector, said: "Initially we feared it may be far more serious. Police were called just after 2pm to deal with an industrial accident with need for a possible amputation."
