Headteachers handed redundancy notice
A council in the north of England has begun the process of issuing redundancy notices to teaching staff in its area.
Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council has informed the headteachers of the Fernhurst School and the Beardwood Humanities College that they are to lose their jobs under its Building Schools for the Future (BSF) scheme, the Lancashire Telegraph reports.
Both these schools are set to close at the end of the current academic year in July and, as such, George Sinclair of Fernhurst and Ruby Hussain of Beardwood will be made redundant.
Meanwhile, all teachers and support staff at these institutions have also now entered into the statutory 90-day consultation period before leaving their roles in the near future.
Lisa Bibby, director of schools and learning at the local authority, told the news source: "The council remains committed to supporting all staff at the schools impacted by BSF school organisation to find new jobs where possible."
