Fatal accident may lead to legal action
Compensation could be sought by the family of a man who passed away in a fatal accident at work in January 2010.

Alan Burr was crushed to death at the age of 52 when he was trapped under a row of steel coils weighing around five tonnes that collapsed on him while he worked for Grimsby-based haulage firm ABC at Immingham Docks.

At the time of this incident, the forklift truck driver was attempting to repair some torn packaging on a roll of coil when one of the five coils tipped over, causing a domino-like effect.

He was subsequently caught under the material and was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive established that ABC had failed to provide Mr Burr with proper training on how to conduct this task safely and the company admitted breaching health and safety rules at a case heard at Grimsby Crown Court.
