Employers 'must focus on closing the gender pay gap'
Ending the pay discrimination suffered by females should represent a top priority for companies across all sectors.
That is the opinion of Dr Suzanne Doyle-Morris, director of online resource Female Bread Winners, who believes closing the gender gap in terms of wages awarded to professionals needs to be done sooner rather than later.
Dr Doyle-Morris explained that women managers who are earning around 30 per cent less than their male equivalents are likely to feel demoralised and could consider leaving a company in favour of finding a better contract elsewhere.
"We also need to hold managers more accountable for making sure that they are promoting women at the same rates as men," she added.
The expert went on to say another area businesses should be focusing their efforts is on implementing better flexible working and parental leave policies for men, as the days when such issues were only concerns for women are long gone.
