As many as 60 professionals in the gaming industry may need expert employment law advice in the near future after it emerged they could face redundancy.
According to the Manchester Evening News, machine manufacturer Barcrest - a firm with more than 40 years' experience in the sector - is considering implementing a wave of job cuts in the coming months.
The Ashton under Lyne-based company was purchased by the Scientific Games Corporation (SGC) in 2011 and SGC has now begun the process of consulting its 300 members of staff on a strategic review of its business.
Part of the potential changes to its operations is focusing more on online pub games as opposed to traditional fruit machines and it is thought his could lead to significant job losses.
Barcrest is reportedly eager to update its business to compete with the modern-day market by developing its own next-generation equipment as opposed to older-style slot machines.
