Laboratory workers to need redundancy advice?
Expert employment law advice regarding redundancy options could soon be required by several professionals at a laboratory company in the Midlands.
ESG Environmental Scientifics Group - a firm based in Burton that has more than 1,600 employees - is planning to make eight people redundant from its plant at the Bretby Business Park, the Burton Mail reports.
Members of staff at the premises were informed of the organisation's plans recently and those being considered for redundancy are now in the consultation process with their employer.
A spokesman for ESG told the news source that this consideration is necessary on the grounds that the country's construction sector is enduring difficult conditions at present.
"We are still working to consider ways to avoid the need for these redundancies," he added.
However, one anonymous worker stated that all members of staff fear this situation is only going to get "worse and worse" and that more jobs will be lost in the near future.
