Liam Gallagher is taking legal action against his brother Noel on the grounds of libel, it has emerged.
According to the Sun, the rock star has issued a High Court writ to his sibling following Noel's remarks regarding the reasons behind their former band Oasis split up in 2009.
The group - who shot to worldwide fame in 1994 following the release of debut album Definitely Maybe - disbanded due to a culmination of arguments and disputes between frontman Liam and guitarist/vocalist Noel.
Recently, the latter claimed Liam had pulled out of a headline gig at the V Festival as he was hungover, but the musician insists the withdrawal was because of medical reasons.
Within the High Court document, Liam said his brother's claims are a "lie".
"I want Oasis fans to know the truth ... I was gutted when I couldn't play the gig because I didn't want to let the fans down," he added.
