Leading horse trainer guilty of unfair dismissal
Compensation for unfair dismissal is set to be awarded to a worker at a horse training stable after an employment tribunal ruled in her favour.
According to online resource Cambridge News, Julia Boccan has won a grievance hearing based on her sacking from leading Newmarket trainer John Gosden Racing, where she was previously fulfilling the role of head lad in the stable.
Ms Boccan lost her job in March of last year and was told by her boss this was purely down to the company needing to downsize in the aftermath of the global economic downturn.
However, the tribunal ruled that circumstances leading up to this appear to display the fact that the firm made sure the 28-year-old was one of those to be made redundant, possibly because she was pregnant at the time.
Recently, James Walker won a case for unfair dismissal against Lambeth Council after he was sacked from his role as headteacher at the Henry Fawcett Primary School in Kennington.
