Holidaymaker seeking £300k personal injury compensation
A serious back injury sustained by a woman while she was on holiday has resulted in her launching a compensation claim for more than £300,000.
According to the Basingstoke Gazette, Margaret Manners - a wheelchair user - slipped on the steps leading up to her chalet at the Killigarth Manor Park at Polperro in Cornwall after being told that there was no accommodation available with suitable access for people requiring a wheelchair.
Ms Manners therefore had to attempt to climb the steps to her chalet by using a crutch, but subsequently slipped and, her High Court writ states, suffered a severe spinal injury.
Because of this incident, the holidaymaker has now lost feeling and the ability to move her arms and legs, the document added.
Therefore, she is pursuing damages in excess of £300,000 from John Fowler Holidays - a Devon-based firm established more than 50 years ago - for its alleged negligence.
