Compensation of £3.35 million has been awarded to a motorcyclist who sustained life-changing injuries during a road traffic accident.
According to online resource London 24, Luca Meluziis, suffered damage to both his brain and spinal cord as well as significant internal injuries when he collided with a truck on a road in the capital city in November 2008.
The 37-year-old is consequently wheelchair-bound and was, medical professionals claimed, fortunate to survive the crash.
These injuries mean the restaurant manager can no longer travel back to visit family at his home on the Italian island of Capri - which is situated off the coast near Naples - and a case heard at the High Court has ruled that the negligence of the lorry driver caused the accident.
Therefore, he has been awarded £3.35 million, of which he will receive a proportion immediately in a lump sum payment.
Judge Michael Yelton decided that an early settlement of the claim brought by Mr Meluziis was in his "best interests".
