Professional taking action over alleged unfair dismissal
A grievance claim based on unfair dismissal involving an ex-headteacher and a school will go to an employment tribunal, it has emerged.
According to the Lancashire Telegraph, Peter Cunningham, formerly of the Sacred Heart RC Primary school in Colne, is seeking compensation from the educational institute as he feels his bosses removed him from his position through breach of contract.
Mr Cunningham was suspended from his role in the early part of 2008 due to alleged irregularities at the Red Lane School, which Lancashire County Council believes were caused by his "inadequate and ineffective" money management.
However, the professional claims that his eventual sacking was "predetermined" by the biased opinions of his bosses and therefore feels he is entitled to recompense for unfair dismissal.
This comes after a former deputy head of Wrexham's Hafod-y-Wern Community School revealed she is also taking legal action against her ex-employer after being relieved of her duties.
