Maclaren has not admitted liability in these defective product cases but Maclaren will pay compensation to more than 40 children whose fingers were injured in the hinges of Maclaren baby buggies; the BBC reports.
A particular case of one mother was cited, whose two-year-old daughter was one of the young children severly injured when the tip of her middle finger was sliced off by the hinges on the buggy, and she required plastic surgery as a result.
Commenting on the accident, the mother said she initially blamed herself before she realised it was a fault with the buggy. Slater and Gordon Lawyers (formerly Russell, Jones & Walker) are the law firm representing the parents involved.
Slater and Gordon Personal Injury Lawyer Richard Langton said the faulty product compensation settlement is "good news", but added he has concerns that more children will be affected by similar injuries. He warned that the compensation payments will not stop further injuries happening to infants.
Richard Langton is a Senior Personal Injury Solicitor at Slater and Gordon Lawyers in London.
