Woman takes employers to tribunal over sexual harassment claims
A woman who claims her employer did not act to help her when she was subjected to sexual harassment has gone to an employment tribunal.
The individual, who has not been named, is suing South Devon YMCA, the South Devon Herald Express reports.
She says that the organisation - which is based on Dartmouth Road in Paignton - failed to do anything when a colleague made a sexual remark.
The claimant said: "I did not feel comfortable about that as I am a woman," adding: "I didn't feel comfortable or safe in my working environment."
According to the worker, she felt as though she had no one to turn to in order to get help.
The hearing remains ongoing and is expected to last for two more days.
Currently, there is a ban in place on naming the two individuals involved in the case and it will remain in force until a judgement has been determined.
