Football club begins libel proceedings against News of the World
The News of the World is facing allegations of libel made by a football organisation.
According to a BBC report, Norwich City Football Club has initiated legal proceedings against it over an article it printed suggesting that it was going into administration.
Last month, the publication - which is part of News Group Newspapers - ran a story entitled "Canaries on brink" in which it was suggested that the club had brought in Ernst and Young and KMPG as potential administrators.
Responding to the claims, Norwich City chairman Alan Bowkett described them as "tosh" and "a complete fabrication".
He added: "The News of the World will be hearing from our lawyers and we look forward to claiming substantial damages."
Meanwhile, chief executive David McNally concurred with Mr Bowkett and stated that the story was "completely untrue" and in his opinion was defamatory.
The organisation has now begun its legal case.
