Bus crash leaves five people seriously injured
A bus crash in Battersea has left five passengers seriously injured today (December 17th).
The vehicle, which was carrying around 30 passengers, collided with a lorry during rush hour and turned on its side.
Witness to the event Kristi May, a 19-year-old student, said it was unpleasant to see, the Wandsworth Guardian reports.
She added: "There was lots of smashed glass down there. Most of the injured people got rushed to hospital straight away."
Meanwhile, Police Sergeant Nathan Shickle revealed that the authorities are waiting for updates on all the victims' conditions.
According to the official, it is believed that the lorry hit the bus, rather than its load coming loose and causing the accident.
The passenger carrier is operated by the Abellio company, which provides bus services in central, south and west London, as well as north Surrey.
This morning, motorists were being advised to avoid the area in which the collision occurred.
