A woman has been awarded an undisclosed but substantial payout after complaining about the results of cosmetic surgery.
Beverley Binks underwent an eye and jaw lift, but subsequently needed three further procedures in a bid to rectify problems, the Daily Mail reports.
The former wine bar and nightclub owner claims she has been left with skin which is too tight and had too much fat removed from beneath her left eye.
She decided to take legal action against two surgeons at Newcastle's Transform Medical Group.
Recently, the 43-year-old proved successful in her legal battle.
She said: "I have been suicidal and my 25-year marriage nearly ended because of how depressed I have become. My face has been butchered."
A spokesperson for the Transform Medical Group - which runs 22 clinics in the UK as well as a number of other venues - said she could not comment on the case.
However, she added that the grievance was a legal matter between the claimant and the two individual surgeons, not the firm itself.
Paul Sankey, medical negligence partner at RJW, commented: "More and more people are having cosmetic surgery and the results can be devastating when things go wrong.
"People should also be careful to check that their surgeon is a specialist not just in cosmetic surgery but in their particular operation. Too many cosmetic surgeons are a jack of all trades and master of none."
