Spinal injury victim secures compensation of £50k
A man who suffered damage to his spine when the car he was driving was hit from the rear has been successful in his bid to secure compensation.
The 61-year-old, who has not been named, was recently awarded a payout of £50,000 under the terms of an out-of-court settlement.
He had been travelling in his car in December 2004 when the accident occurred.
Early in 2005, he began to suffer from pins and needles in his arm and he was diagnosed with a trapped nerve in his spine which had been caused by the car crash.
Since the incident, he has not been able to return to his job as a fitter for PZ Cussons - a firm which has roots tracing back to 1879 and now has operations in Africa, Asia and Europe.
He commented: "My injuries turned out to be much worse than I had ever imagined. I am now out of work because I can no longer lift heavy objects."
