Woman seriously injured in road accident secures compensation
A woman who was seriously injured in a road accident four years ago has been awarded a payout.
Bruna Long was travelling in a car with her husband near the village of Great Horkesley in Essex when the incident occurred, the Maldon and Burnham Standard reports.
Fellow motorist Darren Puljic, who was heading in the opposite direction, had lost control of his vehicle and hit their Honda Accord while on the wrong side of the road.
The 20-year-old was not wearing a seatbelt and may have been exceeding the speed limit.
As a result of the impact, Ms Long sustained multiple fractures and suffered a stroke, which reduced her powers of speech and comprehension.
Meanwhile, her husband, Christopher, suffered orthopaedic injuries.
Mr Puljic's insurers Norwich Union admitted liability and agreed to a settlement with Ms Long.
Although the exact amount has not been disclosed, it is thought the payout will run into seven figures.
