Businessman launches libel case over broadcast

A businessman from the south-west of England has launched a libel case over a recent broadcast.

Matthew Fiddes, whose firm is based in the north Devon town of Barnstable, accuses Channel 4 and independent TV production company Studio Lambert of portraying him in a misleading fashion, the Press Gazette reports.

He featured in a documentary entitled The Jacksons Are Coming, which was aired last month.

According to a high court writ, Mr Fiddes is claiming undisclosed damages and an injunction preventing the footage he complains of from being broadcast again.

The businessman claims that the film portrayed him as having sought to capitalise on the Jackson family's visit to the UK by promoting himself and his martial arts company.

Aired on November 27th, the documentary followed the Jacksons as they journeyed from California to Devon.

It showed them searching for a home in the small town of Appledore during the summer.
