Workplace fall results in £1m payout
A workplace fall which caused a man to suffer permanent injuries has led to a compensation settlement of over £1 million.
Kantilal Mistry was repairing an office block air conditioning unit three years ago while employed by Team Q Maintenance - a firm which currently has around 200 workers.
He was working up a ladder which was propped up against a door when he fell, the Harrow Times reports.
According to the publication, Mr Mistry was found unconscious on the floor and has no memories of the incident.
He suffered severe head injuries and now has difficulty with basic activities, meaning he requires daily care and is classified as a protected party.
During a recent hearing, his former employers accepted 80 per cent liability for the accident and agreed to the terms of the payout.
Mr Mistry's wife, Damini, commented: "[He] requires long-term personal and medical care and our lives have been shattered.
"The financial and practical effects are huge. I have lost my husband."
