Road crash leads to compensation of over £400k
A judge has ruled that the victim of a road accident should receive a significant sum in compensation.
During a hearing at the court of session in Edinburgh, temporary judge Morag Wise awarded Lee Nicoll £410,125 for his suffering and loss of earnings, the BBC reports.
In June 2001, the 61-year-old former textile designer had been travelling in his campervan through the east Scottish council district of Angus when he was struck by a trailer which had become detached from a passing tractor.
He was trapped in his vehicle for two hours and needed to be resuscitated.
Despite having major surgery and undergoing months of physiotherapy Mr Nicoll is unable to straighten his leg.
He also suffers knee and back pain, cannot sleep for more than two or three hours at a time and has not been able to return to work.
In addition, he has been told that he will require a knee replacement in three years.
