Employee awaits verdict in alleged unfair dismissal case
A former business partner and consultant is awaiting the verdict of an employment tribunal panel in an alleged case of unfair dismissal.
Dr Clive Hicks was selected for redundancy from his £50,000-a-year role with Labinah Management Training - which is based in the north-east Worcestershire town of Reddict - last year.
The company was said to be underperforming financially and bosses implemented a restructuring process under which Dr Hicks was selected for redundancy, the Redditch Advertiser reports.
According to the former worker, the management used unfair criteria when they identified him as a target and he should have been offered another role within the firm.
Dr Hicks, who is 50 years old, also questioned the dismissal procedure and the way in which his appeal had been treated.
During a recent hearing in Birmingham, tribunal chairman Mary Cooks said a decision regarding the case would be made at a later date.
