Nightclub issued fine after customer suffers head injuries
A Bristol nightclub has been ordered to pay a fine totalling more than £8,000 after one of its customers suffered head injuries.
The incident occurred in February of this year when 44-year-old Kieran Lynch was struck on the head by a falling confetti cannon, local newspaper the Evening Post reports.
As a result of the events, the father-of-five claims to be more forgetful, lacking in confidence, suffer recurring headaches and has been unable to work.
During a recent hearing at Bristol magistrates' court, Nexum Leisure - a firm that runs a number of late night entertainment venues - was told to pay £5,400, plus costs of £3,090 and a victim surcharge.
It had previously pleaded guilty to four charges, including exposing the public to risk and failure to provide first aid in a proper fashion.
Meanwhile, Mr Lynch has taken out a civil case against Nexum Leisure for compensation.
