Magazine withdrawn over defamation fears

Magazine withdrawn over defamation fears
Copies of a free magazine have been withdrawn over fears that it contained potentially defamatory material.

According to reports in Allmediascotland, the current issue of the publication - which is entitled Variant - is alleged to contain inaccuracies.

Culture and Sport Glasgow (CSG) has withdrawn the copies from the city's Tramway Theatre.

The issue is said to contain an article concerning CSG called The New Bohemia, which contains some "hard-hitting" claims, to which the company has taken exception.

A spokesman for CSG said: "We can confirm that the publication has been removed as a result of inaccuracies, many of which are potentially defamatory."
Established in April last year, CSG is a charity and limited company which aims to deliver culture, leisure and recreation services to the Scottish city.

It is responsible for a range of facilities and services, including arts and museums, social renewal and sports and events.
