Football manager wins libel case against publishers
Football manager David Moyes has won his libel claim against a publishing company and could be in line to receive up to £150,000, the Observer reports.
The Everton manager issued a writ against HarperCollins - an English language book publishing firm owned by Rupert Murdoch - over claims made by footballer Wayne Rooney in his book My Story So Far.
In the book, Rooney alleged that Moyes had passed details of a conversation between them to the Liverpool Echo concerning Rooney's intention to leave Everton after it emerged he had visited prostitutes.
Angered by the claims, Moyes instructed his lawyers to sue in April last year and is now set to receive an apology and an out-of-court settlement within the next few weeks.
A spokesman for HarperCollins, which could face a total bill of up to £400,000, refused to comment on the case.
