City lawyer could receive millions in compensation from bullying claim
A lawyer may be set to receive £13 million in compensation after alleging that she experienced sexual discrimination and bullying while with her former employer.
Gill Switalski, 51, has claimed that she was abused in this way for a year and a half at institutional and retail investment firm F&C Asset Management and was eventually forced to resign her position as legal affairs head at the firm.
It is thought that the loss of pension and earnings, deteriorating career prospects and psychiatric damage suffered by Ms Switalski could be worth more than £13 million.
A tribunal has now ordered that the lawyer is awarded the proper compensation. However, the claims have been denied by F&C, which is to appeal against the verdict.
"F&C is disappointed in the breakdown in trust between the company and Ms Switalski, which has resulted in an employment tribunal," the firm said in a statement, according to the Lawyer.
