Hasselhoff accepts libel damages

Former Baywatch star David Hasselhoff has accepted "substantial" libel damages from OK! magazine.

Mr Hasselhoff pursued legal action against the magazine's publishers after OK! magazine ran an article which claimed he was "off his face" and had been "abusive" while out at a nightclub.

The actor and America's Got Talent judge also objected to an article in OK! Weekly, which alleged he "drank champagne like it was water", on the night that he was awarded custody of his child.

In an out of court settlement, both magazines agreed to pay substantial apologies and print retractions of their allegations.

Mr Hasselhoff said: "While this should not have happened in the first place I am very pleased with the outcome of this case.

"In the past whenever false reports about me have surfaced I have done my best to ignore them. However, due to the completely false allegations published by OK! magazine and others I was encouraged this time by my children to take a stand."
