Passenger injured in boot of car sues for compensation

A man who was injured when he was a passenger in a car is suing the driver for over £300,000 in compensation.

Anthony Gleeson, 22, was in the boot of driver Ian Court's Ford Fiesta on Gosford Street in Coventry when the driver collided with a barrier.

After the crash in October 2005, Mr Gleeson was left with a series of fractures to his collar bone and his limbs as well as damaged nerves and a head injury.

In the initial hearing, Mr Court had been banned from driving after he pleaded guilty to driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Reports from the the Coventry Telegraph indicated that one passenger had been flung from the car when the crash occurred and that six people had been travelling in Mr Court's car.

News of the claim comes in the wake of a report that a girl awarded £6 million when a car crash left her with epilepsy, unable to walk and suffering from learning difficulties.
