My Community and me

The places we choose to live have a major impact on our day to day lives. From the bricks and mortar that make up our homes to the wider neighbourhood that surrounds us, community is at the heart of it all. We surveyed 2000 members of the British public to find out exactly what people think about the importance of ‘community pride.’

From the local schools to village fetes and neighbourhood watch schemes, the community can have a major impact on both why you pick the place in the first place and whether you enjoy living there. 75% of the people we surveyed revealed that they do in fact like living in their areas.

There’s a lot of thought that goes into choosing the area you want to settle down in. Maybe it’s a no brainer and there’s one place that always has, and always will be, home. If you’re moving somewhere new however then everything from job opportunities to affordable housing and recreational activities can play a part in the big decision.

Once you’re settled in it’s important to familiarise yourself with the local community. Get to know the other parents on the school run, introduce yourself to your next door neighbours and make sure you’re registered to the local doctor. With offices across the country, Slater and Gordon are here for you should you ever need us. We offer a range of legal services to communities across the country including those in London, Chester and Wrexham.

We want you to have pride in your community and it’s important that you feel a connection to the area that you live and the people in it. We’d love to know what makes you proud of your community, maybe it’s the stunning local architecture or a certain someone who always goes above and beyond. Let us know on either Facebook or Twitter using the hashtag #MyCommunityAndMe.
