Victims of Chester Trampoline Park Take Legal Action

By Head of Occupiers and Public Liability

Activities like trampolining carry a certain risk of injury. That’s why establishments usually ask customers to sign a waiver. What this doesn’t do, however, is allow these establishments to automatically absolve themselves of all responsibility if someone gets hurt.

The public liability lawyers at Slater and Gordon are currently investigating legal claims from a number of clients who have suffered injuries at a trampoline park in Chester.

Liza Jones was using the ‘tower jump’ at Flip Out in Chester when she landed in the foam pit below and suffered a fracture to her back and burst vertebrae. The accident required surgery to insert two metal plates and six screws into her spine. For more information, please see: Nurse Left Needing Spinal Surgery After Horror Accident at Trampoline Park

Flip Out, which is reported to have voluntarily closed its tower jump, is also being investigated by Cheshire West and Chester Council amid safety concerns after stories of other injuries emerged.

Flip Out has a duty of care towards Liza, and all of its customers, to ensure that all reasonable checks are made and steps taken to make it as safe an environment as possible. If there is a suggestion that it is failing in that duty then appropriate action needs to be taken before there are any further injuries.

Liza is the third person to suffer a serious injury at the attraction. According to the Daily Mail, a few days earlier, Ceri Jones was left with a broken vertebra after it ‘exploded’ on impact following her leap from the ‘Tower Jump’. Further to this, another visitor of the park, George Magraw suffered a spinal injury at the beginning of February.
