Former cancer patients of TV personality, Dr Manu Nair at Solihull Hospital are taking legal action, following medical negligence claims.
Dr Manu Nair – also known as Mr Arackal Manu Nair – a consultant urologist at Solihull Hospital and Spire Parkway Hospital, is currently under investigation over the treatment given to cancer patients.
The General Medical Council placed conditions on the doctor’s registration as of 11 July 2016 until 3 May 2017, imposing restrictions and supervision on medical services he may carry out.
It is shocking that we continue to see so many cases of poor care in both the NHS and in private practice. The medical negligence lawyers at Slater and Gordon are currently being instructed by a number of people pursuing medical negligence claims, including a client who has suffered a recurrence of prostate cancer allegedly due to the prostate not being completely removed by Dr Nair and, as a result, has undergone further radiotherapy.
The consultant urologist has previously appeared on Channel Four’s Embarrassing Bodies.
Mr Nair has now resigned from the Trust as his conduct is being investigated by the GMC. Prior to suspension, he treated more than 170 radical prostatectomy patients, who may have been affected, and have been directly contacted by the NHS trust.
Mr Nair is the second doctor at Solihull Hospital and the privately-run Spire Parkway Hospital under investigation over medical negligence during the treatment of cancer patients.
Previously, Slater and Gordon medical negligence lawyer, Nisha Sharma, commented on Dr Ian Paterson, a consultant breast surgeon at the Solihull Hospital, who was suspended pending an investigation into the medical negligence claims of hundreds of women who suffered incomplete or unnecessary surgeries.
