Slater and Gordon and Family Lives to Host Webinar on Workplace Bullying

By Principal Lawyer, Employment

Slater and Gordon Lawyers UK are hosting a webinar about workplace bullying together with Family Lives. Slater and Gordon Principal Lawyer Deborah Casale will discuss strategies to address bullying along with Suzie Hayman from Family Lives.

Family Lives is a charity that supports people in all aspects of family life and offers support to anyone suffering from bullying in school or the workplace. They offer free confidential advice about bullying and a free 24/7 helpline. You can find out more on their anti-bullying website.

How can I take part?

The webinar is on Tuesday 17th February 2015 at 19:00 GMT and will last for one hour. To register on the Family Lives website please click here and you will be invited to submit questions by Friday 13th February.

What is the webinar about exactly?

Family Lives and Slater and Gordon will be inviting pre-moderated questions or comments about bullying and harassment at work and will explain how you can deal with it during the webinar session.

In particular, the webinar will cover:

  • How you can cope with confrontation or difficult colleagues
  • The risks involved with reporting difficult behaviour
  • The best ways of dealing with confrontation and bullying
  • Who you can turn to for help
  • Dealing with the mental and physical effects of bullying and confrontation

In describing the aims of the webinar, Suzie Hayman from Family Lives says, “Bullying in all its forms affects the whole family. It can be hard for individuals to identify that what they are going through is not harmless office banter but workplace bullying. This webinar aims to encourage employers and employees to recognise and raise awareness of perceived transgressions and actively support those that are bullied, rather than hide behind a wall of silence and look the other way when organisational abuse takes place.”

Slater and Gordon Lawyer Deborah Casale said, “Bullying and harassment at work can be devastating for victims, but people do not have to put up with it. Being harassed at work occurs in many different forms and the law can help to protect employees. At Slater and Gordon Lawyers we know all-too-well the difficult bullying and harassment situations people can experience at work. By taking part in this seminar we hope we can help those and encourage those that are experiencing it to take action quickly.”

Deborah Casale is a Principal Lawyer in the Employment team at Slater and Gordon Lawyers in London.
