Spire Healthcare to be Floated with 30 Clinical Negligence Claims Against Them

Today I read that Spire Healthcare is to be floated on the stock market. My colleagues and I are currently handling 30 Clinical Negligence Compensation Claims against Spire Healthcare Limited.

It seems that more and more health services are being provided to the public by private companies like the Spire. In some ways this may be a good thing as it helps to relieve pressure on the already overstretched NHS.

Slater and Gordon Lawyers are currently handling 30 Clinical Negligence Claims for compensation against Spire Healthcare Limited. These negligence cases all concern treatment provided to patients by Consultant Breast Surgeon Ian Paterson, who is currently suspended from practise and under investigation by both the Police and the GMC for performing unnecessary breast and general surgeries on patients, as well as for performing Cleavage Sparing Mastectomies on women with breast cancer.

An independent review by Verita found that there were a number of missed opportunities between December 2007 & August 2011 to have monitored Mr Paterson’s behaviour and practices and take action.

The claimants in the legal claims against Spire have been promised full responses to their claims on a number of occasions, but they are still waiting for these responses. In some cases, they have been outstanding for more than 12 months.

In contrast, the claims which concerned treatment provided by Mr Paterson on the NHS at Solihull Hospital have been dealt with in efficient manner by the Trust’s Solicitors, and most of these claims have settled. This has meant that the NHS claimants have been able to put these awful events behind them. Meanwhile Spire’s patients are still waiting.
