Our Child Abuse Solicitors discuss charges against Michael Salmon

By Associate, Personal Injury

Michael Salmon, a retired consultant paediatrician has been arrested and charged with rape and four counts of indecent assault. Our Child Abuse Solicitors discuss the alleged assaults...........

The assaults are alleged to have taken place in hospitals across Aylesbury and Buckinghamshire and include Stoke Mandeville Hospital. The charges relate to girls aged under 18 at the time of the alleged assaults and are alleged to have taken place between 1972 and 1985. Salmon has been placed on bail and is due to appear before Aylesbury Magistrates Court on 17th December 2013.

A spokesman for the Thames Valley Police has said that the charges stem from the Metropolitan Police’s Operation Yewtree, an investigation into the prolific abuse carried out by Jimmy Savile. This case falls under the ‘others’ strand of the operation which means the alleged assaults are unconnected to Jimmy Savile.

It has been reported that Salmon previously spent three years in prison in 1990 after he admitted to indecently assaulting two girls aged 13 and 16 at the time of the assaults. As a result of these offences, it is further reported that Salmon was struck off the medical register.

Slater and Gordon's Abuse Solicitors currently represent a victim of Michael Salmon as well as a number of other victims abused by high profile individuals connected with Operation Yewtree including over 70 Savile victims. We are therefore experienced in dealing with cases involving allegations of abuse against high profile individuals.
